Summer arrives with the Dollarbird

A personal favourite sight now summer is here is the Dollarbird. One was seen at the Habitat today on a high branch. Dollarbirds will have migrated down from the far north to summer here in NSW. It is not just the subtle colours that appeal but it is the manic, whacky racer type flying that the bird does in pursuit of its food.

Often seen perched on high, take some time to watch one catch flying bugs and insects, they are brilliant acrobats.
